Welcome to Global Citizenship. The instructors of the 8th grade at our middle school, in an effort to provide an opportunity for our students to reach outside of themselves toward a broader understanding of the world that they live in, wanted to create a place where our students could interact with other students from around the world. This wiki page is the first step in that process.
The assignment: Students will respond to questions posed. These questions will come from administrators to begin and hopefully branch out into questions created by students themselves.
The goal: To provide an opportunity for students to interact with one another thereby gaining perspective of global attitudes on a variety of subjects.
The rules:
1. Remember this is an educational tool, not a social networking site.
2. Mutual respect is a must since people will be posting their opinions and feelings (each person must feel this is a safe place in which to share their ideas). Questions and answers that provoke thought about the topics are welcomed!
3. Adhere to the idea of sharing appreciations for others ideas/opinions. Put downs that serve to hurt WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
"Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it within us or find it not." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

The world is large in size, but connections make it smaller
